Why did Kirk Gibson deny an All-Star game invitation, twice!? - game invitation
Probably the star wanted to take break to rest and make sure it is as good as possible safe. Then All-Star game meant nothing. Now the league is Winning Cottage in the 7th Game (I think) for the World Series.

I do not know exactly, but until a few years, All-Star game does not really matter. Now determines home field advantage in the World Series was almost before the recognition of the players and celebrate the talent. The game can be harmful. Even with a break of three days, pitchers throw to the other players can change their prices is tired or injured. Would that Gibson believes that none of these factors. Who would have the moral right, I do not know.
