What is the process for conducting a private real estate transaction in California? - drew estate java

I think buying a condo in a former colleague, and we try to do it with minimum cost, not to estate agents. What is the best way to do this? Dealing with a real estate lawyer? Hiring a real estate lawyer is an excellent idea.
